Each unit has a number of homework assignments available. These are a combination of textbook-based assignments and worksheets written by the Pingry Physics department. While some will be specifically assigned in class, many will not. They are intended to provide practice material and review of questions and problems similar to those discussed and solved in class. All of the assignments may be completed for credit, but there is no penalty for not completing assignments. The reason for this is simple, different students will need different amounts of practice with different topics through the year. Each students needs to learn the skill of determining what they need to do to be proficient with the material of the unit. But there is, similarly, no need to do tedious or repetitive questions and problem solving for the sake of doing more problems.

Students should read notes and the corresponding sections of the textbook nightly, using the assignment sheet as a guide to what pages correspond to their notes and to the key points for the unit. They should also spend time solving problems from the corresponding sections of the text and worksheets. This should average 20-30 minutes per night.

Students are expected to bring up questions from homework problems in class. If necessary, they may also seek additional help during CP or during drop periods.

Homework points are awarded for any work turned in before or on the date of the test. Students are responsible for insuring that their assignments are recorded for credit.
